Our story

My inspiration for starting Hit the Ground Running Foundation comes from personal experience. I have seen firsthand how incarceration impacts not only individuals but entire families—several of my family members and close friends spent significant time in jail. Those experiences showed me the deep ripple effects incarceration has on everyone connected to it, and I wanted to change that cycle. Too often, people return home from jail or prison without stable housing, jobs, training, or access to the tools they need to rebuild their lives. Instead of being set up for success, they are left to struggle and often end up back in the system. To me, it became clear: jails and prisons operate like businesses—and I want our people to stop patronizing those businesses.

This nonprofit is about creating a different pathway. I believe everyone deserves a real chance to do better, and with the proper support—housing, employment opportunities, life skills, credit repair, and entrepreneurship training—returning citizens can thrive. My vision is to help them not just survive, but build stability, independence, and even their own businesses. At its core, Hit the Ground Running Foundation was born from both pain and hope: pain from what I witnessed in my family, and hope for a future where people have the resources to succeed when given that second chance.
